This book is the first Rikai (manual) for the elementary level (A2) and is completed by the Katsudô book (Communication Activities). Marugoto: Japanese Language and Culture is a series of textbooks published by the Japan Foundation and based on the JF Standard for Japanese Language Education which provides skills for learning Japanese language and culture. The Marugoto series consists of six levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, B2, C1 and C2. Each level can compose one or more volumes. Each method consists of parts that can be included in the same book or in separate books: Rikai (manual) and Katsudô (communication activities). Rikai (Textbook), also known as Rikai: Coursebook for Communicative Language Competences, addresses students´ needs to learn characters, vocabulary, grammatical structures, sentence patterns, and reading comprehension. Katsudô (Communication Activities), called Katsudô: Coursebook for Communicative Language Competences, trains the student´s ability to converse and strengthen fluent communication.
